I did
Try:
#scanpci
if you can see bouth cards.
See also file:
cat /etc/network/interfaces
if bouth interfaces are defined there.
Try also to set static ip adresses in /etc/network/interfaces
Then try:
#ifup eth0
to bring intercafe up.

from adsl modem/router to eth1 in the debian box
