I am Bhaavan Merchant, and am a 3rd year undergrad student. I have been a
part of this mailing list for sometime and now wish to take up a Google
Summer of Code 2012 project under libreoffice.
The ideas which interest me mainly are: a New Template picking UI, and an
improved color
Shouldn't Bold, Italics, Underline shift to *B* , *I* *,* and *U* instead
of using A? Analytically, it will appeal to users more, and it will be
easier to grasp. Visual cues are difficult to notice immediately.

I couldnt agree more with the fact that a flat and OS independent icon set
will help LibO.
This is my +1 to the idea.
however, i also believe, that the codebase for the single icon set much be
such that later on, it must be possible to change icons using extensions.

is black, i doubt system icon sets will look good on it. Mono / bi- chrome
icons is the way to go.

a page in the icon with lines representing the formatting. But
IMO the lines itself should be sufficient, and the page in the background
is a redundant element.
