At my computer is the exact path
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/host-hostname/0/numlock_on and numlock_on
is on.
And I discover while writing this that NumLock is on, which it isn't always. If
I select numlock_on gconf-editor is showing an error message wich says: 'This
key has no scheme.'
Maybe interesting to note: these files are intended for the PSP. I have
tried playing these on Windows Media Player and then they are displayed
with the correct aspect ratio.

I do notice on bootup, and it started about the time my mounted drive
statrted unmounting, When rebooting, right before it gets to the login

Thanks for the instructions, Sebastien, and my apologies for the delay
in updating this. Unfortunately I've been unable to replicate the
crash, so either it's been fixed or I've just lost my touch. :-)

Using the gui, you can get a non-locked session on another tty if you
use the panel applet "fast-user-switch-applet", which has an option to
"switch users" without locking. (This option is in the Preferences of
the applet.) I will confess that fast-user-switch-applet is in universe,
not in main.
