Yes, there is something wrong with the font rendering in Gnome terminal in the
latest Hardy.
Essentially, it ignores the system settings for subpixel rendering.
See the attached screenshot.

not installed. I installed gvfs-bin and giolib.
I am now able to mount using gvfs-mount.

I also confirm that neither sun-java5 nor 6 are working in Firefox in
Hardy. If I goto Sun's java test page

autofs is a daemon that interacts with the Linux kernel automounter to
mount directories when they are accessed for the first time. The volumes
are mounted by "root", not by the user accessing the directory. This is
especially helpful when you have thousands of home directories exported

translation for the gnome-desktop package IS correct. The following

Hello,
the 3 strings changed in Launchpad that seb was taking about were in
portuguese from Portugal. They have been fixed. I still fail to
understand how this is causing trouble in Portuguese from Brazil.
Anyway, sorry for the confusion.

The story of that screenshot is that when I left my machine (and locked
the screen) on Friday, my desktop was empty. When I came in on Monday
and unlocked it, that's what was there. The mount point in question
would be /home/mpainter, which is mounted by automount whenever
something under /home/m
