Updated the gvfs and samba related packages from hardy-proposed. Trying
to reach a Windows Server 2003 share in an Active Directory domain

Started happening to me when I upgraded to Hardy Heron.
Abandon nautilus for PCmanFM until it's fixed.
My NTFS partitions and external harddrives stopped automounting. To fix
that I put in my .bashrc (all one line):
alias fixfuse='sudo mv /usr/local/lib/libfuse.so.2
/usr/local/lib/libfuse.so.2.

I'm not sure why the shared need to be mounted to query the display name
but that seems to be buggy, delaying the password handling when it's
really required would make sense though.
the gnome-panel code should also use the async gio api to avoid such
issues, the changes should not be too complic

I can confirm this behaviour. I had Grip configured as preferred application
for CD's in 7.10.
After upgrade to 8.04 (via update manager) the preferred application defaulted
to Rhythmbox.
I also set the dropdown to custom and entered "grip" as the command (as it was
previously)
