Same Problem here on a ASUS K6AM Laptop. Transparency in the Panel as

I do not use the CapsLock key and my CapsLock key behavior is set to
Default.
When I am connected to a machine with the accessibility applet in the
panel via VNC, the applet status does not show that mouse keys are
active. So having the applet in the panel doesn't help here, even as
a notifier.

I had this problem as well, but mine was due to not having a "home"
location set. I had two locations since Hardy, and I didn't see
temperature/weather until I upgraded to Intrepid, removed one location
and set the other location as home.

disappear. If I add the battery monitor applet I get a different
program, with different options and different icon.
Restarting the machine restores the old battery
The bug has been resolved in the latest version of gstreamer (0.10.22),
or so I am led to believe from the upstream report.
Should a backport of this version be made available for Intrepid?

As a temporary workaround I have set the limit of open files to a very large
value.
The problem is that gnome-session, for some reason, doesn't close the socket
when it should, which raises an error when the max limit of open files is
reached. I have no idea where this comes from, but since we k

Update, I found out that the bug has been already open: Bug #270203.
A fix has been already released but did not work for some guys, neither worked
for me.
Let's wait :-)

I can confirm this problem. It's been taking down my work machine when
it hits a bit over a gig. It appears to be exacerbated when I run
System > Preferences > Mouse, giving me the error that gnome-settings-
daemon cannot be started.

Now I finally got it working, the libpt package has been cleaned and all
the packages has been rebuild. It should now be possible to both have
ubuntu-desktop and ekiga 3.0.1 at the same time.
So please test if this package has interest.

After the release upgrade MTP was not checked (it was in the 8.04, because I
used rhythmbox to transfer files to the player)
I checked it but the Creative Zen is not detected. I have a 30GB Ipod (5th
gen), which is correctly handled even in 8.10, but I know is taken by another
plugin.
