How bizarre. In both Stéphane and my case, we installed a brand new
maverick machine, installed all the updates, and then used update
manager again to upgrade to the latest development release. And it's

started to flicker in Natty from early alphas and are still flickering
in latest beta. It seems that invalidating GTK window causes the window
to go blank for a moment and then redraw its contents. Anyway

include some cases where there is GTK widget on Cairo-drawn background.
One example is Lipik sticky notes screenlet for which the background is
an SVG image and foreground is coloured GTK Textview widget.
