This is about Evince 3.36.7 and Okular 20.08.2.
1. If a highlighting annotation is created in Evince, it is visible when
the file is opened with Evince, Okular, or Xournal++, but it disappears

installed (13.10 64) - i do not know any way to close that sidebar
forever, that is very annoying to me, since i don't use it, but it eats

Layout indicator is always present for me on screensaver, but hotkeys
(Alt+Crtl) to change layout won't work. Have to click on the indicator
