I think a solution for Chromium will be to use "new" mimes only on Natty, and
revert to the old ones on Lucid/Maverick.
(It does not affect the current 8.0.552 branch, but it will affect 9.0.593+
branch when it'll be released. Also, it affects beta/dev/nightly ppas).

For me issue is that, despite the default layout is USA, and previous window
had USA, the layout in new window is somewhy Rus, and due to bug 637360 it's
different from shown. However, if you press a shortcut, the layout changes
*indeed*, indicator doesn't change, but it becomes right.

I don't use any non-GTK apps, but this happens often for me, so p.1 is
maybe incorrect.

People with Slovakian locale also experience this (LP: #633402),
although they use Latin alphabet.
Please at least change importance to Critical.

indicator displays 'USA', but I can't change it. I have russian as

Still present. After an hour of normal work, layout starts to switch
uncontrolable (USA <> RUS). Keyboard indicator always displays USA, I
can't change it.
For example, if I type 'qwerty', i get 'qцуrен'
It's of course a very important bug.
