I've been making heavy use of the memory slots in gcalctool and found it very
useful that they were persistent even after closing it. After upgrading to
Maverick, the ability to store results in memory slots is gone.

Well, I created a file in my home directory (which is where I produce
this in my test) without issue, and I couldn't reproduce it in the new
file. It seems to just be with any already existing file from before
upgrading to 8.10.
I don't seem to get this issue at all when I run gedit as root.

I have this problem too. The text can be copied pasted, it's just too small
to be visible.
