I'm having the exact same problem in 11.04. I can't even get copy-paste
to work. This is terrible!

Just upgraded to Beta 1 from Karmic. GRUB works fine, boot works fine,
login screen comes up fine. But when I log in, the desktop never loads
and it never shows the desktops or panels. All I have is my wallpaper,
there are no icons or panels.

New Wave is one Control scheme that uses a texture. It scales properly.
So yes, it looks like this only affects the light-themes. Does that
mean it's a different package?
