Please maintain the bug open, I am having similar problems and have not
found solutions in this or other discussion groups.
in particular, all evolution calendar alarms work well except sound. I

The critical thing about this bug is, that it floods .xsession-errors
from usually a few kb to megabytes.
Imho, this causes annoying useless disk activity/capacity and probably a

notify-osd and gnome-power-manager suck about 20-30% CPU each while flickering
is there.
killing gnome-power-manager stops the flickering.
But this is just a silly workaround.
Could anyone of the devs say a few words to that, because I think
marking this as invalid in kdebase-workspace because it has nothing to to
with this package IMO.

Notify-OSD uses 28% CPU because of showind the changed screen brightness all

I changed the gdm.conf file so the export looked like this:

then I get the following in GDM:
fre okt 9, 4:36 instead of fri oct 9, 4:36PM.
So it's more correct for a swede, and it dropped the PM. But the hours are

I think the issue is that we call
g_find_program_in_path (mc)
for finding out whether midnight commander is available as the menu items are
generated. This call causes disk I/O.
However, I'd also like to allow users to install midnight commander at
