I have the same problem on a HP Compaq 8510p. I found it strange that
the default settings were to "Do nothing" when battery power is
critically low, so I changed it to "Hibernate".
Unfortunately this does not work, it just keeps going until the battery
is drained.
I'm running the latest Ubuntu 8
Forgot to mention it, but the gnome-power-cmd.sh suspend commands do
work (both for suspend and hibernate).

I'm having a similar issue on a 1366x768 screen. The lower part of the
window falls outside the screen, and when I click to close the window,
it jumps up and hides the titlebar, so I have to use keyboard shortcut
to close it. Very annoying.

My panels are placed at the bottom of the screen, yes. And I'm running

What do you mean by gnome 3? GNOME 2.29? Has upstream really changed
this? I find that hard to believe. We should absolutely not change that
behaviour, and particularly not now.

This bug is still with us in Intrepid Ibex... However, this time, the
sharing feature of Rhythmbox has been on the "cover" of ubuntu.com, so I
guess alot more users will suffer from it this time.

I agree. If it was just alarm-clock, it'd been ok. It's not a critical
application, and it's not supported. But it isn't just alarm-clock. This
also happens if you try to strace something in gnome-terminal at least.

Seldom. So I haven't really made a big deal out of it. Now, however,
with the new netbook, the answer is: 4-5 times every day. That's
something else entirely.
I'll take it to bugzilla. I still think this bug should have a high
priority here though. Just to clarify; you're right, people wouldn't
trust Ubuntu just because the applets stayed at the same places.

with viruses at all! A virus is an executable file that copies itself
into another executable. This bug wouldn't in any way permit a user to
write to its executable, nor any other executable, hence it's not a
virus.

This bug is not closed. It's not related to alarm-clock, sabby, it's
related to Python. It's not fixed. Upgrading alarm-clock will not
prevent the same thing from happening when you run strace, for instance.

The clock applet is very useful to get a quick overview of tasks and
events ahead. However, the space for subject is very limited and so most
get chopped. I find that I often have a list of "Monthly meeting w...",
which doesn't really tell me
This doesn't really have anything to do with birthdays. Sometimes,
you're able to rearrange the subject somewhat and make the variable part
the beginning instead of the end. But certainly not always.
