Hello, the extensions were already disabled, anyway I can't reproduce
the symptoms anymore on a fresh installed system with the same
extensions configuration.

Switching to another display manager like lightdm or sddm solves the problem.
I've a Dell Inspiron with Intel U620 graphic card.
The problems happens with the laptop display alone but also with external
monitor connected via HDMI.

use a window manager other than Mutter in Gnome. I myself had to revert

As in summary, opening Sound settings and going to Input tab, there are
no entries in "Record sound from" list related to internal sound card.
The sound card is recognized by alsa and pulseaudio (info attached) and
curiously it appears starting gnome-control-center within GNO

It seems there is no audio feedback (beep) to assist in typing with a11y
features enabled. The audio file to play ("bell" named sound) is
installed (both ubuntu and freedesktop sound themes).
