previous comment was out of topic, that's not libgtk2.0-dev that Depends
libtiff4-dev, libtiff4-dev is a Build-Depends for gtk+2.0, closing the
bug that's not one. Seems you are confused by what Build-Depends are,
you should rather use a support ticket on an user list if you have
questions about
I didn't have the source in my repository list.
After reloading my package information, I've been able to run the command line:
apt-cache showsrc gtk+2.0 | grep tiff and it shows :
Build-Depends: debhelper ( 4.0.0), gettext, pkg-config, libglib2.0-dev
(= 2.12.0), libpango1.0-dev (= 1.12),
$ sudo apt-get remove libtiff4-dev
...
The following packages will be REMOVED:
libtiff4-dev
Are you saying you can remove libtiff4-dev and keep libgtk2.0-dev installed?

libgtk2.0-0-dev needs libtiff4-dev
I downloaded the source code of gtk+-2.10.3 and tried to compile, it
stopped asking for the development package of libtiff4.
The error log is :
