I got this issue with Alacarte 0.11.3-0ubuntu2.
1) I installed 'lyx' from local DVD (repositories) using synaptic.
2) It didn't show up in the Office menu entry (Applications- Office).
Not there.
3) Yet it was there when you Edit menus (alacarte).
4) To make it show up I had to untick it from
That is a separate bug in gnome-menus that should be fixed in gutsy.
