instance was open, but segfaulted. So the first evince crashed and while
the SIGSEGV handler was operating, I reopened the document, i.e. called

Unfortunately, now the crash is different and maybe related to a race
condition (?).
The problem seems to happen in 2 of the nautilus-sendto plugins:
libnstbluetooth.so and libnstevolution.so.
What I've done was removing the rest of the plugins and just running
valgrind and gdb with each of those

I agree. I miss a lot of things in this new gnome-control-center. For
example, in ubuntu 11.04 (gnome2) we can easily configure laptop lid,
power button, screensaver, user groups, automatic login in unity-2d...
All those things have gone in ubuntu 11.10 (gnome3), now Gnome-Tweak and
Ubuntu-Tweak ar

editing an imapx account causes the apply button to become disabled.
Changing the setting back still leaves apply disabled. Editing

results in Gimp finally being usable in Oneiric. Tested with a Wacom
Bamboo Pen and Touch and tablet PC.

This is a limitation in how X handles keyboard grabbing. Essentially,
when GTK opens a menu, it needs to grab keyboard and mouse. When that
happens, gnome-screensaver cannot exclusively grab the keyboard.

halt (or shutdown -h) will halt your PC whereas poweroff (or shutdown
-P) will power it off.
The shutdown -h behavior has changed since Natty, but according to the
man page both variants are valid.

I agree with Josh 110%.
Kernel bugs are fixed and pushed upstream by Canonical folks. Why not GTK
bugs / issues? How about security issues for that matter? Waiting 5 1/2
years for a security fix is pretty sad regardless of whos fault it is or
who maintains the code. As a customer of Canonical,
I got a same problem in my Lenovo S205 (jamms in shutdown) and I have
tried all suggested solutions here [1] and above without any success.
Hopefully someone get this fixed.

I'm having the same issue. When I try the workaround, my bridged
connection (via eth0) receives a 169.254.xx.xx address. Verified DHCP
and wireless is not the issue on my network using alternate laptop which
has Vista on it.

As I understand it this is a workaround for the bug which would enable
Gimp to work in Oneiric and has a very low chance of causing regressions
in Gimp. All Ubuntu would need to do is add this patch to their Gimp
package to disable the history buffer and release it as an update.
