let alone a fix. With that, my network successfully reconnects just
about as often as if there is nothing in sleep.d.

be adjusted. This began happening about a week ago. I've changed
themes (back to Ambiance default) and problem still exists.

It can lead to latency issues, lost packets or disconnections.
To disable it, you can set the BSSID in your WIFI access point profile
