As of 2019, using Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, this bug is still alive... When I
invoke Xrandr the cursor disappears and I have to Alt-Ctrl-F1 and then
Alt-Ctrl-F7 to make the cursor re-appear again. I'm using a relatively
new BIOSTAR A68N-5600 motherboard newly bought in 2018.

I would imagine that the currently shipped API key of "geoclue" is some
kind of universal default. Now that the use of keys is apparently being
monitored and limited, perhaps it would be possible for Ubuntu to

the bug.
On the other hand, the bug does not manifest itself if there is only one
active CPU core. The number of active CPU cores can be controlled by

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
Checked smb.conf so far only seeing "client min protocol = SMB2" which
should not be causing this problem...

I see same behaviour. recvmsg() with EAGAIN failures (lot!!). CPU
utilization is not very high for me. Like around 3% but constant usage.

The key used by geoclue in ubuntu to access the mozilla location service
appears to be rate limited.
Here's the relevant lines in /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf

the branch isn't wrong.

Here's a procedure that worked for me in Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic.
For this procedure the user is "bob"
1) Install the latest brscan2 package (I have brscan2-0.2.5-1.amd64.deb
which I downloaded in 2014)
2) Manually link the drivers brscan2 installed into /usr/lib/x86_64
-linux-gnu/sane/ and /usr/lib
Yes that solved the problem. I removed the package and all is working
now.

The error is in the Online Accounts menu from the settings panel. The

Check your smb.conf, maybe you have some overriding setting in there.
The default disco install I tested had no config file.
With gvfsd running in debug mode, there is also a specific message you
can look for which will tell you if your gvfsd was rebuilt with the
right samba version: "Forcing NT1
