Hi Marco, I didn't get any error on an old but up-to-date installation
of 22.04 with LightDM, but got a login error from gnome-session when
using a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 daily-live ISO and installing Unity7 on top
of it (with both gdm and lightdm). Apparently, it works after installing
the old version
Thanks Daniel, this fixed the odd preference window behaviour. Glad to
see it's a feature and not a bug. I would still question why we want
this active by default though considering the lack of consistency with
other windows and Xorg.

I think this is triggered by valgrind because it leads to slowdowns, but

Whenever I try to select a different window from the dock (or add to
favourites/any other option in that menu), as soon as my mouse leaves
the dock for that menu, the dock hides, which makes the menu drop down.
This is very frustrating because at best I have to try again, and
I think this is a bit more nefarious.
On an installed system, all you have to do to have port 3389/tcp
suddenly open is to *visit* the "share" tab in the settings. No need to
change a thing, just visit it, then close the window. Boom, you have rdp
desktop sharing running. At least it's a random pa
software-properties-qt simply does not launch when run from the live
session except when using the workaround mentioned by Paul above in
comment 6 or when run by the Driver Manager link in System Settings.

I tried using GDM3 as suggested by Khurshid, and it works perfectly fine
with GDM3 and the latest version of gnome-session. Guess I'll release
Ubuntu Unity 22.04 with GDM instead of lightdm since it's too late to

Thank you, Olivier. I am happy to see that it works out of the box in
20.04 focal LTS. The fix was released a month ago, but since I anyway
had custom association configured in ~/.config/mimeapps.list, I forgot
to check it earlier.

Looks like I hit this today in a Xorg session when testing Nvidia.
The log provides no details of what caused the crash other than the
system was shutting down/logging out at the time.
