I have difficulties in trying to configure an external monitor via VGA (HDMI
works perfectly), the system crashes whenever I switch to extended mode.
Sometimes I get one monitor switched on while the other off but never duplicate

my headset started working correctly. I don't know if it is solution of

experience during listening, but it's a workaround and not solution.
I'm still seeing fast volume UPDOWN, the problem is "fixed" because
output channels are always on, it would be great to have speakers muted

In current version of sound settings dialog (gnome-control-center
3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4) there is no way at all to set the sound card profile
(see screenshot). Maybe it is a PEBKAC, but I really cannot guess how to
set the 'Analogue stereo output' profile, so to completely disable the

I've just found out why the auth log is not present: empathy-auth-client
was not running...if I manually start /usr/lib/empathy/empathy-auth-
client, the Empathy.Auth appears...
P.S. I'm behind a proxy, but Gtalk was working on oneiric (even if
connecting to Gtalk was requiring some minutes...)

Sebastien, I'm not very familiar with ACPI, but in the log that I've
attached it seems that there is an error on ACPI, do you think we should
assign this bug also to ACPI?

Adding lightdm because I've discovered another issue:
1)boot Ubuntu
2)leave pc idle without logging in
3)after 10 minutes (as I've set in screen settings) the screen goes standby
4)I cannot restore backlight even using keyboard shortcut (I think because I'm
not logged in)

Backlight not restored when moving the mo
In my system package desktop-file-utils ver 0.18-0ubuntu9 is installed,
in fact now .docx and .xlsx are opened with LibreOffice, but if I test
it using "file" it says that they are zip file...

So the problem is very simple: the backlight is not restored when I move the
mouse, but I must manually turn on it.

Closing...I've just noticed that this issue is caused by the backlight
that is not restored when I move the mouse or press the keyboard, so I
must restore the backlight using the keyboard button; so I'm opening
another bug...
