I tried to produce a usable backtrace by copying the crash file back to
a VM that were in the state before the upgrade, but the backtrace there
has GDB warnings: Section `.reg-xstate/$number' in core file too small.
I assume that the crash happens when already some package were updated.
What I saw
There are two possible reasons:
1. Firefox or no other browser is installed
2. Firefox or another browser is installed, but xdg-open fails to open it.
Assuming it is point 2, I re-assign this ticket to xdg-utils which
provides /usr/bin/xdg-open.

Firefox introduces Tivoization for all extensions (like ubufox) and does
not provide more security. Everyone who can write to
/usr/{lib,share}/mozilla/extensions can probably also modify the system
