When booting up the default value of
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_vidoe0/brightness is 0. I have updated my
/etc/rc.local and have added the following line before exit 0:

Thanks for sharing MNM. I have another issue, but when logging in (see
#854185). In either case, the default scripts to handle this should be
fixed.

After the screensaver has kicked in and you when you try to resume, the
backlight does not come on, but I can just see the password dialogue
box. Problem was not present prior to update.
