.cache/tracker which does not seem to solve it.
I have considered removing the files in ~/.local/share/tracker/data but
haven't yet tried that.

The bug appears to be resolved.
A few comments:
I installed hplip-3.15.4.run as per the conversation above with
TomasHynk. When this fix was released, I wanted to uninstall what
hplip-3.15.4 installed and revert to the standard Ubuntu stack.

me as a Canadian user:
1. Amazon Canada now provides access to the kindle store, so there isn't as
much need to visit Amazon.com
2. the app now (in 13.10) takes me to amazon.com

Amazon Canada does not provide us access to the Amazon Kindle book
store. For that we have to go to amazon.com.
99% or more of my use of Amazon is to buy books from the Kindle store.
