I've always had many problems trying to get my SD cards, from different
brands, to be recognized by Ubuntu. Sometimes they are recognized, and I

Nevermind, this ended up being that I needed to set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
to /usr/local/lib when launching unity-control-center. I'm having other
weird problems with this self-compiled version, but I doubt it has
anything to do with this patch.

Please describe what desktop environment and window manager you use, and
whether compositing is enabled in the window manager settings.
I am asking because the same bug exists on Haswell in Arch Linux with
Marco window manager (in MATE), and is fixable by installing and running
compiz.
