Issue with servers with SSLv3
This issue isn't about whether gnome-keyring is useful or not.
But there are indeed many reasons for not wanting to use it for anything
but secret store indeed, some as listed by Dmitri.
The fact that gnome-keyring doesn't implement some of these features is
rather inherent to the process, where

Can you test whether is works with 1200x600dpi High Quality Resolution
with PPD in attachment then, otherwise the High Quality setting makes no
sense.

I added sleep 2; xscreensaver-command -lock in the shortcut but that
doesn't change anything. Even without sleeping the shortcut worked. When
I close the lid of my laptop (a Lenovo x230) I get the default Unity
lock screen and when the time set in xscreensaver settings expires, I
