I had the same problem, and my computer graphics felt slow (i.e the side bar
opening animation).
I had fixed this by messing with the nvidia drivers, using prime-select to
select nvidia, etc.

Background:
In Emacs, I had customized backup-directory-alist to (("." . ".~"))
Then, when I edited /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10periodic, it created a backup file
named /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/.~/10periodic~
The problem: today when I changed proxy settings in the network applet and
I am running Xenial on an Inspiron 14 laptop with Intel video.
As per requested in the xubuntu-users mailing list, I installed the
xserver-xorg-video-intel deb from the yaketti packages, both:
* Test that following a return from suspend and logging that the cursor is
visible.

Well the tablet works with gnome 3.20, but in ubuntu the problem persist.
I didn't have the xf86-input-wacom installed in antergos :p so i thinked that
gnome 3.20 wasn't detecting the tablet. I installed and it works!!! in Gnome
3.20.
So the problem is only in the unity-control-center.

recognized by the gnome-control-center and unity-control-center.

I have worked around the bug by using another email client to subscribe to
Inbox. Then Evolution started working correctly. Please see this thread:

sigurgeirg is another user that faced this bug, and I have successfully
Milan Crha (who has a Red Hat email) wrote that this is not an Evolution
bug, but instead a server bug. evolution-data-server 3.18.1 and later
has a workaround.

Yes, I use graphical Emacs (I don't supply the -nw command line option).
IIRC, when I last reproduced the bug (in a virtual machine) I started it
via the command emacs from a terminal. Now I lost access to the virtual
machine (its host had a hardware problem).
