Im experiencing this as well, and it used to be only unity (compiz) that
had this issue so I had switched to gnome shell and that fixed it for
me, but recently on 14.04 ubuntu gnome it is starting to have the same
issue as compiz.

I can confirm that this is not an issue in unity on my friends acer
aspire ultrabook with intel hd 4000 graphics, as well as my old hp with
integraded intel graphics. Both using SNA 2D acceleration, and both are
running Ubuntu 14.04 with unity.

When I create a new hidden folder like .icons In a folder that is
currently not set to show hidden folders it is created but also creates
an Untitled Folder and that is all the user sees, and to some it may
appear as if it did not work until they look with hidden folders

I get this error on startup, im guessing that there is no driver for my
touchpad?
Ubuntu treats it as a mouse and not a touchpad, no scrolling, and its generally
flaky to use.
Im sorry if this bug report is not complete if im missing anything that could
possibly help let
I'm guessing were all seeing this on different devices right?
It affects my galaxy nexus as well.
