Click on Circle tool and drop one on canvas. Then hold down CTRL and LEFT SHIFT keys simultainously, while hovering over just dropped circle. Then click LEFT mouse button. Reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.3.1 and 0.48.4 (X11- as well as Quartz backend), but not with current trunk (r12183) on OS

Reverting prior status change - needs further investigation. X.org crash (logout) as described not reproduced in Ubuntu 12.10 (VM, 64bit, host: OS X 10.7): - Unity, with overlay scrollbars enabed - Unity, with overlay scrollbars disabled for launched application only - Gnome, with overlay
