I just completed the upgrade to 13.04 yesterday.
Per your suggestion completely uninstalled AOO before upgrade
sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org3
sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org
sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org-debian-me
sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org-hyphenation
sudo apt-get purge
I do plan to upgrade. I usually wait several weeks or a month before
doing it though. Will let you know whether issue is resolved at upgrade.

13.04 comes with LibreOffice 4.0.2 which has a lot of fixes (and some
great performance fixes for Calc) in it. (I suggest completely removing

bug. Since reporting the bug there have been several Ubuntu updates
through software center. LO Calc continued to behave the same.
However I did not reinitialize the configuration since the updates. Per

As a first try let's see if it is a configuration issue. Please move the old
LibreOffice config, by running this at a terminal:
mv .config/libreoffice .config/libreoffice-old
