for the front blue jack , try hda-jack-sense-test -a and plugged the
loopback cable to find out the node of the jack

This is what I did.
First, I installed hda-jack-retask
(http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/pulseaudio-discuss/2011-December/012342.html)
Then, I used the command "hda-jack-retask" to open up the console.
I used the first option, overide under 0x14. I also did the same for 0x1
seem the driver does this front panel Line out jack
you need to use hda-jack-retask to change node 0x1b Line Out to
Headphone
autoconfig: line_outs=4 (0x14/0x15/0x16/0x17/0x0) type:line
speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
hp_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
mono: mono_out=0x0
dig-out=0x
And I have updated ubuntu twice since. Current kernel is 3.8.0-30-generic. The
problem has still not been solved.
@Raymond - I do have 3 jacks at the front:
One is blue colored and by icon looks somewhat like RSS feed ones (I seriously
don't know what this one is for).
The second one is pink co

@Daniel - I ran that command. The thing that I noticed is that, it gives
me "Alsa-Driver (not installed)." Currently trying to run the sudo apt-
get install to install it. But can't for now, as the Software updater
has just given me a prompt to download another kernel (8.8.0-29). Maybe
