I have observed this problem as well, using 13.04 x86_64, 3.6.1-0ubuntu1. My scanner is a HP Photosmart Premium c309a, connected via the network. When scanning multiple pages, the scanner will not eject the last page and waits for additional pages to be fed. It seems it's not able to detect that

After doing some additional reading on the Ubuntu site I tried using xsane instead of simple scan. I found that the problem was also present in xsane. I am going to repost this bug on the xsane site instead of here since that appears to be the source of the scanner code. It appears simple scan

The last scan does not complete when running the Simple Scan auto feeder. Even when I restarted Simple Scan it did not want to do new scans right away. I found out that if you leave it long enough (30+ min) it did complete one time. I was also able to do a series of multiple scans without
