Hi, I'm closing this bug now, because nobody ever showed any screenshot
or similar (of the sound settings GUI) where IEC958 was showing. Feel
free to reopen if you provide such screenshot, preferrably under the
latest release of Ubuntu.

I think one of the strings got fixed in 13.04. Please confirm/deny if
this is still a problem, e g by taking a screenshot in 13.04 where you

I don't think it is correct to change all IEC958 to SPDIF
e.g. dell inspiron 660s does not have any optical or coaxial jacks and
only have HDMI jack
it is quite confusing that alsamixer show spdif playback switch in
Ubuntu 12.10

I meant to change all user visible occurrences of IEC958 to S/PDIF as
the latter would be a more well known / user friendly name for end

Sorry if I missed some spot, but as we're way past string freeze, I
doubt there is anything we can do about it now?

@Guy: could you take a screenshot showing the issue?
@David: I'm not sure to understand the bug report fully but those are
not translated strings I guess so it could be fine to still fix some
instance to have a consistant wording, I'm not sure where those strings
are though and what impact the
