My point is that I will mention both release page (for the release
notes) and the download page.
It's what I'm doing for other releases (karaf, etc).
It's noted, I will do that next one.

Both would be fine, but driving downloads to the general area still
makes most sense. All the useful info is on the download page or
obviously linked from it (i.e specific release page, or past releases
page doing the same). Download page and release notes are probably the
key infos for release,
Noted, but we need both (download and release page) for Apache
announcement IMHO.
