Questions about XenServer Delta Snapshots

Hi, I've been playing around with XenServer snapshots a bit today and had a couple questions. This is in reference to the snapshot diagram here: http://i.imgur.com/F1grmIp.png If I revert my VM to state E: 1) Do I lose state D entirely (I believe I do unless I first take a snapshot of it)? 2)

kvm - why just qcow2

Is there any reason why we only support qcow2 format on KVM? It seems like it would be fairly simple to support other formats, qemu-img can handle going from VMDK to RAW for example, and qemu-kvm can even use VMDK, QED, and other formats. It even seems like QemuImg.java was written with other forma

Hi Saurav, It looks like the feature is a little orthogonal to ACS. It is more an adjunct. The only reason to add an API to CloudStack is to re-use the authentication layer. Otherwise, the feature does not interact with other parts of ACS at all. If there was a way for a service to re-use the API

Alex, That may be true for master when UserContext was replaced.  But, on 4.2.0 when UserContext is still in use, the UUIDs are missing. ActionEventUtils does pull the entity uuid and types to send on to the publishOnEventBus, but those variables are never being set to anything in UserContext/

I did test a xenserver environment and it works if you put the vhd-util under your eclipse cloud-core-snapshot dir in the right place. I don't see why it shouldn't work but I haven't tested the upgrade scenario on a unix ms host. I did check our hosts to be upgraded and they already have a vhd-util

Faulty method isNetworkAWithinNetworkB ?

Hi Daan, Sorry I did not notice that you were using devcloud for testing. The fresh 4.2.1 installation should be ok. However, the issue may impact the upgrade. vhd-util was in /opt/xensource/ directory in 4.2, so /opt/cloud/bin/vhd-util may be missing after upgrade to 4.2.1. I do not have xenserve
