How do I get work assigned here? Honestly, I am quite intimidated
after reading the mailing list.
I am not quite sure where do I begin.

Hello,
great that you want to contribute. Apache Commons is kind of a
kitchen-sink project, and you are probably best positioned when you
look at aspecific sub-project.
If you check out the (maven) sites for the projects you typically find
a page to instructions for contribution or you look at CO
Since this is my first open source any small task would be quite
helpful for me to get started. I am quite comfortable with Java and
C++ programming languages.

I've been meaning to do a little bit of clean-up and unit testing in the
Collections package of Apache Commons. Perhaps we could work together. Ping
me if your interested and I'll take a look at the code to see if there is a
