There was a recent report about vulnerabilities of some dependent libraries: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-8952 I think we should fix this for 2.3.1. Furthermore, we identified the root cause of https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-8649 -- it seems to be a critical issue
