next sync otherwise...
It is also worthwhile modifying the commons build files so that future
releases are ok. I can apply patches.

That's a problem - while id's can be the same across repos, it won't
work with the mirroring :(
You'll need to change the id of the snapshot plugin repo (eg
snapshots-plugins), and add a new mirror.
We're currently looking at simplifying this.
