I think I just solved the problem... after an mvn eclipse:eclipse you have to add the entries to the shared jars in the projects throwing errors. And then if you want to deploy out of eclipse (myeclipse, wtp etc...) you have to manually set those jars in tomahawk or any other project referencing

One more thing... I believe this is more of a problem with the IBM server than with MyFaces: Since WebSphere 6 ships with its own JSF implementation (which is still JSF 1.0, by the way), one would run into the same issue trying to plug in any other JSF implementation, not just the MyFaces JSF
