If I'm not wrong, we no longer use Docbook anywhere. So I suggest to remove it
from:
1. cmssite component, where it was used by the online help, now assured by
Asciidoc. BTW, for whom it could concern, I noticed that anchors jumping
in adoc files does not work in online help

The humanres.xml file that I have included as an attachment is a complete
docbook file that can be rendered by Webhelp. The processing is context
sensitive so the correct screen help displays depending on which screen you are
on.
What we have been doing in the past
was taken and made into an OFBiz addon but the XML files for
the addon are still docbook files and in fact seem to be rendered I think by
Webhelp.

the component documentation help files
seem to use the docbook section (recursive section) tag. I can't find any
chapter tags or even the book tag in any of the files I've looked at. There
must be a book tag somewhere!
When I was doing the HR documentation – (from the Webhelp addon) it had been
DITA for online helps and Docbook for
books (as its name suggests;))

it's an XSL issue, but not sure how to handle
that yet. It still found weird though that both systems would be corrupted at
the same time. I will try with my Ubuntu box...

The file is applications\commonext\documents\ApacheOfbiz.xml. It has not been
changed for months and seems to look good
It never get out, to be continued... I'm on Windows but we got the same(?)
issue on Ubuntu (demo server)
