Yesterday I created a 0.40.1 release. It contains a fix for an incorrectly
specified jar version in the Windows launch script which caused Osmosis
invocation to fail. 0.40.1 is otherwise identical to 0.40.

browsing through the code of Omsosis-Xml, I noticed lines like
inputStream = new FileInputStream(file);
both in the run() method of org.openstreetmap.osmosis.xml.v0_6.FastXmlReader
and org.openstreetmap.osmosis.xml.v0_6.XmlReader. Maybe I'm overlooking things
but shouldn't that better

700 MB is a tiny machine, but then the Finland data set isn't that large

Incidentally why would it run out of memory in slim mode? I had the same
