To be honest - I would prefer River being mavenized. But I understand it would be a huge effort and the benefits are disputable. I found working with existing build easy - just imported the project into Eclipse - had to set up some library paths etc. Ant build works fine. The only issue is that

It's not so much that ant is the problem, more so that classdep needs to be maintained for new java features to correctly determine dependencies. But then it cannot determing Class.forName dependencies... Tim Blackmann I contributed the ClassDep Java 5 language support code based on ASM.
