wait_for_connections fails and kills smsbox

Interesting problem using latest cvs (with CMTI patch) is that occassionally the wait_for_connections process fails and takes the smsbox with it. Looks like the process fails to read from the serial port (either due to the phone or some other random process on my machine) and this takes the s
