It seems I was wrong. I did the same test again, and this time even with
more `zram-fraction'. The Darktable memory is compressed, there was no
more hang-up problem. Sorry about the noise, maybe it was a regression
in the old kernel, or my configuration error somewhere.

I've managed to find and fix the bug which is causing this today,
and I have posted a patch fixing this upstream, so hopefully the
fix will make 5.11-rc4 (otherwise it should be in -rc5). No need
to file a bug and I suggest just sticking with 5.10 until this
is fixed in the 5.11 rc-s.

You can use psi-plus for VoIP over XMPP. It supports voice and video calls.
