As Sailfish SDK nears Beta and phones come closer, I started thinking about
porting one app of mine that is downloading cool flickr wallpapers once in

So it looks like the problem with Python, Qt5 is solved. See Thomas
Perl's latest tweet about pyotherside. Good thing is that you will be
also able to use Python code in QML.
