I imported the recent FreeType 2.1.8 version into XFree86 a few days ago, and it is included in the latest experimental snapshot (4.4.99.4). It includes changes from Chisato Yamauchi (After X-TT Project) that allow the XFree86 server's 'freetype' font module to function without needing to make use
