I haven't been able to get to ftp.e-smith.org since about the time of
the 6.0b1 announcement. I could understand the server being busy, but
it's not even resolving any more. Has this been taken down, and if so, is
there a replacement, or are we left with only the mirrors, with no master

Any chance you could redirect the .org to a mirror if the community were
to set one up?
Rackshack is offering 700GB/month transfer on a dedicated server for $99
and I bet we could run a site there on donations alone. Anyone
interested in helping organize this if Mitel is ok with it?

Our current mirrors ARE part of the community! What makes you think

Announcing SME Server 6.0beta2 unsupported developer release

Mitel Networks is pleased to announce the availability of the second

ftp.e-smith.org had about 1200 days of service, almost 1000 of those
running version 4.0 of the server product
So you guys have been using a discontinued an unsupported version of SME
in spite of Gordon's recommendations to upgrade? Now what kind of
example is that for the rest of us?

Quoting Gordon Rowell [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
After almost 1000 days of service, and 450 days of uptime since the
last power outage at its co-lo facility, ftp.e-smith.{com,net,org}
is no more.
I hope it was decommissioned with all due pomp and ceremony; sounds
like it served its purpose quite
Is there a preferred way of referring to paths to
download? I can, of course, just give URLs for a single
mirror in the HOWTO, but that defeats the purpose of having
lots of them. OTOH, directing the user to the mirrors list
adds another level of complexity. You know the saying--if
Contribs.org is available to host any of the developer's work. We will not
mirror the iso's due to the bandwidth load requirements, but we can take
care of all of the contributed work that e-smith has been hosting.
Since we had been mirroring the e-smith contribs area, it is a simple thing
