I have followed the howto in installing RAV for esmith 4.1.2, however I
think the RAV does not scan outgoing emails. Is it because of the
obtuse-smtpd used? Is there a way to make RAV scan outgoing emails as well?
And is there a way I can get outgoing emails backuped to a specific
location?
Dear all,
Just a quick check, the !* in C-shell should translate to $* in BASH.
So, this may look like:
alias rm 'mv \$* /tmp/\$user'

Just to share my experience,
In my HP unix box, I did an alias for rm globally so instead of removing the
files, they are moved to a hidden dir under user's home dir. Then I run a
cron job to remove them weekly. This works great and users love it.
I believe this is a good one to have in

Lotas,
This reminds me of the days I first used computer, which used a tape
(yes, normal audio tape!) as offline storage. (But I forgot the model.) I
was doing some Turtle programming (if you heard of it).
From my computer engineering days, theorectically this is perfectly Ok to

Does the LDAP directory of e-smith support passowrd authentication?
I know I can select between private and public for opening the directory to
either internal or external network. But I want to allow my users to access
the directory externally, but only my users.
Does anyone have a clue?
Where is the documentation on all these db command syntax and usage, as well
as the events that should be raised?

Hi Darrell,
So, if I want to stop one particular IP from sending emails (massive!)
to us, should I use the badmailfrom file for control? or should I look
at something else?
Kai, how about looking at the answer I gave you already :) In case you

Just follow this HowTo - Problem/Solution #2:

The howto is very clear, thanks.

I'm experienced with HP-UX on HA, my experience told me that a floating IP
can be used in such cases. I've built clusters with that. So I guess there
should be similar stuff in the Linux cluster software... So you may want to
look at there as a start.

Dear all,

Dear all,
I'm testing the IMAP for suitability for our use, and have the following

I've considered IMAP, but that means my user can't read their emails

I remeber someone tried AVP virus scanner for e-smith, I have the following

it is licensed per user, what would happens if I add an extra user without

everytime I add a user, results in long user creation time.

right? correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm new to IMAP.

Dear all,
Has anyone has any experience in setting up an NNTP news server on
e-smith? Is there any readily available RPM for it?
Also, anyone has implemented email list package such as 'elzm'?
I'm thinking to implement a internal announcement system (kind of a

I've found elzm-idx in the contributed area, but no news module. Can you
