You could reconfigure your CI-V interface to take power from a wall
wart or some other convenient source of DC power. That would
eliminate any dependence on the ALE software properly configuring
the modem-control signals for power supply duty.

Yes, the 735 requires a CI-V level converter. You can purchase third-
party units for ~$30, or build one yourself for under $10; let me
know if you want a schematic.
The 735 has a longterm reliability problem with VFO capacitors; ask
on the Icom reflector for the gory details.

While fairly technical at times, the one thing that stood out is that
the computational power and especially memory available (3G cell stuff
and maybe 256K) is not that large. So it could be implemented. However,
this appears more for multicasting in the case of the "fountain codes."

Hi Andy,
My ALE rig is on the air tonite. 40m included.
If you link with me and I don't keyboard you right away, please leave
me an AMD with the time and freq before you clear the link. I will
pick up the message later.

A good point and I did consider adding this when I built my homebrew
CI-V interface. Because power is supplied to the interface via the RTS
and/or the DTR lines and you can turn that off and on with some programs
(e.g., Commander) via software control. But because Commander provides

Does the 735 require an Icom CT-17 CI-V level converter?

Greetings. My name is Jim, and my call is KA1EUI. Thanks for
allowing me into your group. I always have been an RTTY and packet

Hi Nick,
You can download the ALE program "PCALE" from the HFLINK.COM website.

I'm no expert on this but I guess it depends on what you mean "doing

If the ALE software can only key the transceiver via RTS, you could
build a one-transistor RTS-to-PTT interface for the transceiver

I did try the Generic setting with different parameters. I am not sure
of what this does as it does not seem to work with the CI-V. I tried
using the Pro 2's address in the box called Radio ID but this did not
really do anything. I used 8, N, 1, for the other parameters. I do have

40M was bad last night, I am monitoring 14109.5 today if anyone

I use an IC-735 for ALE on MARSWorks fine but it limit it to groups of
frequencies between relay clicks.
