I' ve been doing similar stuff for years. the boot managers that linux and
variants use works well. the minor problem is that most C drives will be
NTFS file system and linux still likes FAT32 better so if you can convert
the NTFS to FAT32 then linux may like it better. generrally Partition magic

I have found that the Ubuntu LiveCD (6.x) loads nicely on my new Acer Aspire.
The Aspire has an C drive of 90 GB with MS on it and a D Drive (named Data)
with 70 GB formatted.
I would like to load Ubuntu (latest) on the 70 GB part. now and eventually
reformat the C drive with MS on it for
